Intel Core i7 11700F vs Intel Core i7 10700F
For a long time, Intel processors have dominated the chip market for better performance at a reasonable price. Whether we are talking about gaming or general working, Intel is the best choice for budget builds and midrange builds. Intel with the launch of the Core series of processors the processor market was divided into 3 broad segments. Low-end processors for general consumers, midrange processors for budget gamers and people with high workloads, and high-end processors for the prosumers and gamers.
Well, we are going to find out this by comparing Intel’s 2 high-end desktop processors, the Intel Core i7 11700F against the Intel Core i7 10700F, head to head in a couple of popular games and check out the FPS and also checkout how the processors perform in benchmark software. The Intel Core i7 10700F is the 10th gen processor with 8 cores and 16 threads. The base clock speed of i7 10700F is 2.90GHz while its boosted clock is 4.80GHz. The Intel Core i7 11700F on the other hand has the same number of core and threads but the base clock frequency of the 11700F is much lower at 2.50GHz but has a higher boost clock of 4.90GHz.
Both of these processors are based on the 14nm lithography so the difference in the performance of both of these processors will be interesting. So without waiting any longer we get straight to the benchmark scores and FPS in games to determine the difference in the performance of the i7 11700F and i7 10700F.
We are using similar test benches with an RTX 3080 and 32GB of DDR4 memory to prevent bottlenecks for this benchmarking. Also all of these games are running on 1080p and ultra settings.
We start with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Both the processors perform similarly in terms of FPS and as the core i7 11700F is a newer processor it pulls ahead by 2-3% both in average and minimum FPS.

Even in Watch Dogs Legion, we see the same 2-5% improved performance. The Intel Core i7 10700F was not too far behind the Core i7 11700F. The difference in frame rates is not noticeable at all.
A similar trend followed for Destiny 2. A higher number of frames is recorded for the i7 11700F but the visual difference was barely noticeable. The average and minimum FPS was lower for the core i7 10700F.
In HITMAN III, we again see the same change in FPS difference of 5%. The average FPS of i7 11700F was somewhat higher than the i7 10700F. The minimum FPS has also had a 2-5% increase although the difference was barely noticeable.
And finally with Call of Duty: Warzone we can completely see that the gaming performance difference for the core i7 10700F was a few FPS slower than the newer 11700F. The difference was barely noticeable.
In CPU PassMark, the performance difference of the i7 11700F was almost 20% higher than the previous generation. This made the difference in performance more comparable with i7 10700F in terms of performance. The Intel Core i7 11700F was performing adequately faster in terms of both single-core test and multi-core performance test when we compare it to the previous generation.
In Geekbench 5 we see a similar performance increase. The single-core performance was higher as well as the multi-core performances were higher than the previous generation. The Intel i7 11700F is performing better than the Intel i7 10700F by almost 15-20% on the benchmarking applications. This improvement in performance was higher than the result we saw in games. The benchmarks result as we saw, the 11700F had higher scores similar to what we saw in CPU PassMark.
So to conclude this comparison and keep things simple, it is safe to say that the newer Intel Core i7 11700F performs marginally better than the older Intel Core i7 10700F in games and the difference in performance in work applications is better noticeable. The difference both in time and frame rates was barely noticed in games during the tests. So, for a gamer, there is not a big difference in terms of FPS. But since the single-core and multi-core performance of the 11700F was still better when compared to the 10700F s we can recommend the 11700F to people who need better performance overall. So, if you want to save a few bucks and get the cheaper Intel Core i7 10700F instead of the newer 11700F the difference in FPS or time will not be noticeable at all.
